Great Wall Chinese Restaurant — Establishment and food at 8018, 508 Old Toll Road, Madison, Connecticut.

The quality of the food is not consistent -- some nights moderately tasty, some nights absolutely foul. It's a 50/50 type of deal.

It's fairly typical "Chinese" fare, and when the better cooks are working, the food is acceptable. It seems as though the food quality suffers on their busier nights... possibly because untrained people are used to prepare the food when they're struggling to keep up with orders.

It's the only local place in the Madison/North Madison area for Chinese food, so if that's what you're looking for, this is it. I recommend staying away from dishes containing shrimp, because it is usually way overcooked. The pork and chicken dishes are usually a safer bet. Beef tends to be stringy and chewy here. If you want your food to be spicy, stress it with the strongest language possible, or else you will get your dish bland.
